WE MUST RESIST CBDC. President Trump’s executive order, IMO, is a major step towards CBDC, despite what the order says: (but not, for avoidance of doubt, to establish a Central Bank Digital Currency).

CBDC. It's not whether it happens, but how.

A central bank digital currency, (CBDC), could, and in my opinion WILL, have some serious implications. Once every dollar is traceable, financial privacy could be a thing of the past. And that could lead to censorship or fear of consequences just for using your own money.

The obvious. Because CBDCs are digital and centralized, the government or central bank could potentially track every transaction in real time, which raises worries about surveillance and loss of financial freedom.

Not so obvious. (Extreme control). If a CBDC replaces cash, the government could theoretically restrict how, when, or where money is spent. That could include limits on purchases, expiration dates for money, or even freezing accounts during crises or protests.

A CBDC could seriously limit people’s ability to manage their money privately and independently. It opens the door to programmable money, where governments could potentially dictate spending behavior or even penalize “undesirable” activity.
