This is very true from personal experience during my travels around the world. I have been backpacking all over china and used to get flu all the time. Chinese flus are horrible horrible. My doc advised high doses of vitamin D. Before I was taking high amount of C which was useful but D was lacking. Same thing happened while in Scotland.
One thing to remember is it takes 3 4 months to raise the D level. It's not like you take 40,000 IU and your vitamin D level is up in a week.
