It seems to me that the only reason to take a job now is to get fired, so as to get in on the perpetual unemployment dole.

Over the years I had several jobs that I was tricked into resigning from. At the time I had no idea that the reason this was happening was so it would make it practically impossible to get unemployment.

Was it expected ? I did not read bloomberg CNBS etc saying - 'Jobless claims UNEXPECTEDLY rose'. So I conclude that it was expected. So why was it expected ? because it does not make sense to take the job unless it's paying 100K or so. If you are working at minimum wage rate, after paying taxes, medical insurance and cost of travel to work, you got hardly anything left. It's certainly not worth spending 9 hours at work and 3 hours in commute. Note you will most probably lose state medical insurance if you take the job.
