Only disappointment is the rate of inflation. So slow. It needs to go up fast. I want AOC as president. Talib as VP and that freak from Minnesota as treasury secretary. It will be a dream team.

Yet, after $5 trillion of stimulus injections in 2020, economic growth is once again collapsing.

A Broken Transmission System

The desire to use “debt” to cure the “economic illness” seems logical, particularly when viewing it through the political lens of “getting re-elected.” However, the “cure” keeps the patient on “life support.”

The policies enacted, be it stimulus, quantitative easing, or bailout programs, fail to create sustainable economic growth because they are debt-based. Using debt to drag forward future consumption only leaves a void that must get filled in the future. Most importantly, the use of debt for non-productive investments, like a stimulus that has a one-time effect, is the debt service that then absorbs future revenues.

The view that “more money in people’s pockets” will drive up consumer spending, with a sustainable boost to GDP, is wrong. It has not happened in 40-years.

What gets missed is that things like temporary tax cuts, or one-time injections, do not create economic growth but merely reschedules it. The average American may fall for a near-term increase in their take-home pay, but any increased consumption today will be matched by a decrease tomorrow when the stimulus ends.

Consumer confidence continues to weaken despite a booming job market, higher wages, and a surging stock market

With NFLX down 37%, it destroyed a few trillions. That's why dollar is going up. Take it easy.

Industry and labor are the true drivers of a sustained “healthy” economy. Debt borrowing results in a selling off of assets, a service based economy (low-wages) and a death spiral when servicing that debt becomes impossible. We are long past that point. Perhaps this is what inspired that rather feeble-minded U.S.President, Woodrow Wilson, to lament in the 1913. “I fear I have betrayed my country.”

The cost of living crisis and higher inflation is beginning to look a lot like probation for many. Economic bubble = human trouble. It’s helping people get on their feet so they can walk everywhere instead of drive I guess. Seriously the economic situation is going from bad to worse as the days go by. People are going to be stuck in a rut with no way out. It’s going to hit everyone hard in one way or another. No one is exempt from this. I have a positive mindset and I’m not trying to be negative but it is what it is.

And then some billionaires are saying a depression may be arriving by mid 2022 because it’s a shemitah year and a seven year cycle that’s observed where debts will be forgiven . The Great Depression ... begin in a shemita year. I think that’s why I’m reading about bankruptcies by big businesses being filed this last week. 🤔
