I believed, as I said repeatedly that the probability that this would be a “sell the news” moment would be high. (Yes the market did close lower the day of the announcement, but nothing dramatic).
What happened on Wednesday, AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE EVER! Is at exactly the SAME TIME that the Fed. made their announcement of a 50BP cut, the Fed. simultaneously released their plan to continue to cut rates not just for the rest of this year, but straight through next year as well! And BOOM! This stripped out ALL uncertainty AND PREVENTED A SELL-OFF. It was made clear to the market that the Fed. WILL CONTINUE to prop up the market.
On the day after the Fed. Announcement, the stock market TOOK OFF! Finishing markedly higher across the board with new record highs for the DOW and S&P500.
