I have to laugh when the topic of oil reserves come up. The US and Canada both have enough untapped oil under the Eastern Rockies and Great Plains to make us independent from foreign oil. Our reserves are larger than the entire Middle East. There is a reason why we are prohibited from drilling for our own oil. It’s the same reason why the large Australian Diamond fields were bought out by DeBeers and Oppenheimer lawyers in the 90’s.

They would drill a well, then after they were done they could cap it, NOT build a production well on it to actually pump oil. I went to the wheelhouse of the ship and took a look at the book that plotted all the drilled wells.....capped AND production wells. There were HUNDREDS of wells that were drilled, but had no production well built on top of them. I asked my captain why that was so and he said..."We're trying to use up everybody elses oil then WE will be the largest supplier of oil in the future."

It depends on what they say. I was a "Offshore Rigger". All I did was ate all day long and gave the oil rigs whatever they needed whenever they needed it like drill pipe, equipment, food etc. We hardly ever worked. I went from 197lbs starting offshore work to 299lbs when I stopped.
I had the LOWEST paying job working offshore and I took home $1,000 a week and I could work as long as I wanted to. I usually did 4 weeks on 2 weeks off. Roustabouts who worked on the rigs drilling for oil were getting like $2,300 take home per week working 2 weeks on 2 off.
My toughest job was fighting off the cook who was trying to fill me with 6in long shrimp, 3 inch thick steaks and pecan pies constantly.

Mhm my uncle was an oil scout and since I tended to him when he got older I learned a lot!!! Plugged wells, capped wells, and lots of resources!!!

Yes it’s possible to make very good money in the field driving the company trucks and the overtime really makes it good. $100,000.00 and up.
