Used your ideas and watched your video about 10 months ago about credit card payoffs. We just about finished negotiating the hubbies credit cards. OMG, we just saved about 80% on everything we owed. Thank You ! (We're gonna do mine next.)

Currently in the beginning stages of doing this. Interestingly both Citi and Capital One are trying everything to get me to make a higher payment.

We just did all that, just ignore them trying to get you on a higher payment. We left ours go and didn't even talk to them for about 3-4 months. We directed all the calls to a cell phone, and we turned it off. When we were ready, we called the banks directly and made offers.

Did they accept your offers?

YES, eventually most of them did. Two of them went over to a credit agency because they wouldn't go as low as we wanted, and we called their bluff. So we are negotiating with the credit agencies. We just settled one of those two for 25%, it was only for 4K... We were hoping they would just write them last ones off, but they sold them to credit agencies. Good Luck!

Beyond blessed that (at the moment) the only debt I have is my home (low interest) my solar panels (super low interest) and my car (also low interest)

The solar credits are going to pay off my car (which is amazing)

My home is at 3% and my solar panels and batteries are 0.99% BUT they keep my energy bill stable...

I'm hoping I made the right choices... but my credit card debt is ZERO

Very excellent information, will have to look in to that when I’m more settled. Will share with friends, thanks for this!

I was speaking with a relative yesterday about this and her reply about getting out of debt, stop spending, etc was "(!!@%@$# and other really nice words and phrases.

Most people don't CARE that they are in debt.

Very sad.

I basically did what you explained here and paid 30 year mortgage in 12 years. I paid cash for my 2nd home here in Arizona. Everyone can do this.

Anyone want to list what credit repair agency they are using as advised by Greg. I don't know how to find a good one. Hope folks will share good and bad.

Help. Good news is i got one settled for 25% which saved me about 10k. Bad news I just got served on another and i don't know what to say in the response... in the petition it asks to send the Plaintiff, capital one, a letter and file a copy with the court. Anyone tackled this before? Is there anyway to prevent a judgement at this point or stop them from taking wages? I only have a few days to respond.

Great info! I am almost debt free, and working on paying off remainder of mortgage in 5 years. It’s the FOMO attitude that gets people in trouble most of the time. When reading this, the word humble kept coming to mind. I’ll talk to anyone and it’s truly amazing because everyone has a story. Listening more, talking less is my motto. I learn something everyday and it has also taught me gratitude. Thank you Greg for posting this!

Why they would settle with the customer?when they can win the case at court anyway.

It’s not called unsecured credit for nothing it’s like buying a used car as is banks know finance most people don’t Greg book explains

Expand full comment
Andelo's avatar

Well Greg book is missing that bank simply send an unpaid loan to credit agency which agency can win at court anytime so you can only deal with a court. Right?
