I recommend that new lions create an Excel spreadsheet for tracking their paper trades for several weeks or months to prove that they are good at trading before doing real trades.

correction: it was just under at the high today what it was at close - but still i'm down 20% tho I was at break even at close. just trying to figure out option pricing as it's certainly not straight forward. i might buy more today since it's so down price wise (not necessarily so down strike wise...)

The option price dropped because it moved away from our Call price from yesterday. If the price would have moved in our favor then the option price would have been higher, so no problem just average down and it stock price moves up you will be showing a profit.

hey! the prices changed so much on aapl in one day. i was break even just before closing (tried to sell a few, but couldn't fast enough) it opened higher and i'm wayyyyy down. must be vega? are you buying aapl today or waiting to see what it does - if it dips more?

I added 3 contracts at the low just while ago and I was at break even at close too, so I'm averaged down nicely and if AAPL moves back to $142 I will pull a nice profit.

really at $142? i guess b/c you bought lower this a.m. i need to hit at least 144 to just break even. i'm not too worried as it's dated june and it's aapl. just curious how much averaging down i should do. thanks!

I cut my entry price from yesterday in half this morning by buying 3 contracts at the low and I will be showing a profit before it gets back to $142 hopefully if it doesn't take another dive.

for me it'll take a bit longer as i took profits yesterday and then re-bought unfortunately at the high b/c it looked like it was going to keep going.

i just bought a bit more now. i was not able to this morning due to emergency. is it vega that causes such a price difference even tho it's not much of a move for the underlying?

If you want to short the market, swing trade vix. The put, short market is trading on non fundamentals. Play volatility, not doom.

Same here. I get giddy at 9+% then sell. Perhaps too early, but I hate waiting to see if more comes in.

I closed two thirds of my position with a 10% gain and let the last third run to a 20% gain, now I'm out. Awesome day and an awesome week! I'll be donating 15% to Orphans.

I hope they limited their losses! Just saw on CNBC, people called vaccine chasers, you can't make this stuff up!

Expand full comment
Fed Up's avatar

you mean they are chasing the vaccines for themselves or to force it onto others?

Expand full comment
Stephen Martin's avatar

They are chasing to get vaccinated themselves. People in Los Angeles, waiting in lines - these are people who are not at the supposed top of the list hoping for leftover vaccines to get their shot!

You honestly can't help some people who have their minds made up or have a touch of greed.

I'm surprised people email you. Do you actually answer them?

Anyhow, thanks for the advice. I'm flying pretty good now, though selling too early; but profit if profit.

I don't get it... If you know the Fed is going to dump more cash into the market, why would anyone short??

That was a rhetorical question lol.
