What does it mean to buy a call for x price? Can someone help me, I've never traded stocks before.

You could also choose to trade stocks as CFD using a forex broker like ICMarkets. I'm doing that, following Mannarino's signals as well as doing my own currency trading.
I suggest you read about them before you do options trading. Options are very different than stock trading
