Very bad first day

True. We'll see what happens. This week was destined to be rocky for numerous reasons.

Still a little leery on options expiring in 3 months too.

Not me, I'm not jumping ahead of my technical indicators and still waiting.

My indicators say buy now

Expand full comment

Almost but still trending down.

Agree, still hasn't completely bottomed out yet. I opened with a small position earlier waiting for indicators to flip before adding.

Let me know when they flip. I don't have time to watch at work. :)

What good is following a trading system that gets you into a SPY position at 375 which it was when you sent the alert to buy and 30 minutes later it is at 372? What kind of bogus system are you relying on Gregory? A good system would be telling you to wait as it falls. Tired of this BS honestly. Maybe your just simply wing an a prayering it buying dips as they are free falling.

Why don't you look at the market and see how it's behaving and use a limit order so that you can set the price at which you want to get in.

Start out small maybe 5 contracts and build on that position if it moves against you. the name of the game is to average down.

Ultimately, we are old big boys and girls here crying and belly aching is very undesirable.

Why don't you read what I said once again? The comment was the current buy System he says he is following for the SPY. If it is a "Great system" as he has said then how could he have bought calls soon after the market opened and as of now be way under? Why didn't this system tell him the SPY was selling off and hard as it has this morning? Get my issue here? Seems his actual system is to jump in when the SPY dips a little after market open even on a day when it is dipping a lot.

GM's "QUANT" system is very much a lagging indicator of what to do. It's buy signal was still on last weeks up tick and hadn't at all taken into consideration of what today was presenting.

Expand full comment

Exactly! I have seen it many times saying strong buy on something and it was selling off and continued selling off a couple of days before finding support and turning around. Then the Quant system would be showing sell on it. It has a couple of days or more lag so it is really not useful for day trading or even swing trading unless your swinging a trade for several weeks or more. Of course it does have correct readings on longer term trends for buy and stick with it investing.

The 20 day MA on SPY is about 369.25 and last two hourly candles have closed below that. If this continues and especially if daily closes below, then 80/20 rule says SPY is going lower and thus this is NOT a buy the dip opportunity yet until maybe gap down to about 363. Too bad GM doesn't use more TA to both trade and make his recommendations.

Buy the dip guys ...

Mike, LOL you can't quit on the first trading day of the year??? We are just getting started, and I'm glad I waited and didn't JUMP AHEAD this morning and waited to see what direction the markets were going. Hang in there cause its going to be a GREAT YEAR!!!

How often i asked in this blog, when will markets realize that Trump has won? So now we are in the hot phase and we will see what happens. No time to take too much risk. My positions? 2xSilverCalls/both+15%today, SilverMajesticCall/today+100%, some Gold&SilverMinersStocks/allabout +6 to7% today. Missed to short German Dax30 today because busy at work. Greg was right in his video today: Check the market and predict Biden will be president. Also right woud have been to say: Maybe Trump will win at the end, so take care. Thats how it works. Both directions. My target for Dow Jones when Greg opened his position was 29832. Nearly reached. There we will see.

QUANT is amazing.

If that is what your using today to make buy decisions right after market open then It pretty much sucks I would say. Thanks for getting your followers into a bad position that could have been a good one if you simply paid attention and had a little patience.

Greg, obviously you have time on your hands but what made you buy in the middle of the day? Personally I follow the sell the open buy the close type of trading otherwise i find myself catching fall knives. Im bullish for april but in the mean time i opened up 0dte puts with weekly C at close. Small position as most of my money is in metals

It was in the money when it was initially posted. Market has gone down a little bit.

Sorry I meant ITM, the other trades were OTM. Day trades are short closure dates ITM or I got it wrong ? (referring to the book)
