2.3 trillion infrastructure plan bodes well for stocks. I will say 1.5 trillions may go to China as every American company imo buys from China. Most of the parts/material come from China. H1B visa restriction has been shelved. So workers will come from Mexico. Need to follow the money.

MCGA? Make China Great Again?

You can bet republicans are going to do what they can to stop infrastructure spending.

In the last 4 years alone, republicans have proved to be just as bad democrats.

Hi, for credit spread, which expiration date is ideal?

Expand full comment
BruceH's avatar

2 to 3 months is good.

With longer time frame, you can wait for the stock to come around if it immediately goes against you after entering the trade.

How do you usually pick strike price for selling puts and credit spread?

Expand full comment
BruceH's avatar

I usually sell slightly in the money Put credit spreads at 5-6 months expiration. This is same position as buying out of the money Call debit spreads.

Most people sell out of the money Put spreads. They collect small premium but the trade has much higher probability of winning at least $1.

I see. I was picking 21 days expiration before and sometime it was not working very well. I have't try debit spread yet. Is it riskier than debit spread?

Shorter expiration options sounds good on paper. You win big and quick but the opposite can also happen. You have to be correct in your assumptions or you have a total lost. The problem is people put a significant portion of their account into short term plays and then have a series of loses. I've been there and done that.

In term of risks, both credit spread and debit spread have the same risks in that there is maximum amount that you can lose.

How did you learn how to trade option?

Yeah, when over all market was up trend, it seems like working well, but it was pretty risky. I'll try longer options. Thank you for answering my questions, Bruce. Good luck with your trading :)

How much time do you reckon Greg spends writing fake 5 star reviews for his shitty book? The names he comes up with are pretty funny at least. I assume most comments on these posts are fake too.

If oil is going to go up, then this is a good opportunity to start accumulating XOP long term calls.

I appreciate Greg’s recommendations and I understand puts and calls tho I have never done one, but I never know me is what to put as a strike price. How do people make that decision?

Thank you Susan. ITM is below the current price but still I don’t know how far below.

To buy a call just ITM would be the closest strike price under the current equity price.
