If enough people were awake, absolutely. My husband and I were talking to his mother about this a couple weeks ago and she thought that was the craziest idea to pull cash out and oblivious as to why we think that is a smarter route. Some people are truly clueless!

I have a feeling a lot of ppl are. I tried doing an international wire transfer, after doing it twice on my own, I was told the 3rd time I couldn't because they didn't know what the firm's wire transfer was and because of the Frank-Dodd Act. BS! I found out the fee, called them back and they still said, "no". I worked around it, but they are holding on for dear life. Only have as much in there to pay your bills.

You're talking about "bank runs", right? What would that ultimately do? By no longer allowing derivative markets to function properly or something deeper?

As always, thank you for your thoughts.

Can we still call it a fractional reserve systems, when the reserve requirements are now zero? At least that's how I understand the Fed policy announced as of March 2020.

yeah but you need to convert those money in physical assets otherwise you just sit on pile of paper. Even toilet paper could be more valuable at some point as we saw in recent time :)
