This is like saying the biblical tower of babel was destroyed by God, and not the people's hubris and manipulatibility. The word you are looking for is called a rule by law, not a rule of law.

I have been thinking about it a lot last days and this is the only logical reason I can come up with regarding Trump and Greenland:

Trump was on a meeting with Powell, Yellen and a few others. Yellen whispered in Trump's ear - "I think we had it much better when we had Greenspan". Since Trump was shot in that ear he has had some hearing difficulties so he heard "things were much better when we had Greenland". So hence, because Trump has a secret crush on Yellen (he probably likes older women, who doesn't?), he decided to take "back" Greenland to impress on Yellen....

Even if they manage to cut stuff (unlikely), the deficit is still going to explode due to mandatory spending spiking for things like higher interest on the national debt, social security, Medicare, etc.

The best thing for the country would be cutting both medicare and social security, and balancing the budget, and capping inheritance.

No person should be able to make so much that their children never have to work a day in their life. Resources stagnate in such hands.

Without cutting, sometime between now and 2030, we will reach the third stage of ponzi for our currency. The remaining independent producer would cease production, leaving only those funded indirectly by central bankers (money printing non-fractional reserve debt issuance), and that is a de-fact collapse of the market to non-market socialism.

Every rational person knows non-market socialism fails indirectly, but inevitably. No country following that dogma has survived longer than 50 years, most collapse into civil war or become failed states within a few short years.

Corruption leads to shortage, leads to sustaining shortages, leads to slavery (when crisis is recognized), and finally death/annihilation.

Its a cascading failure that can't be stopped as it becomes inevitable as a result of the defects in its structure. The system dynamics either expel or collapse chaotically, just like the 3-body problem.

Greg, I do not know if you have ever read Karl Denninger's work at www.market-ticker.org. He is brilliant. I have been reading his work since the GFC in 2007/08. It is possible to balance the budget, but only if the MEDICARE/ MEDICAID system is reformed. MEDICAID, in particular, was formed without arranging for any funding for it at all. Medicaid is at least partially funded by tax withholding. Spending what you do not earn should be unconstitutional. Yet, the Constitution is toilet paper from the government's view.

I’m Canadian & I see those in power, both here & in the US, not really caring or reacting to opposition parties exposing wrong doing & borderline criminal intent on their part. Do they know something nobody else knows? It’s like they know a meteor is headed towards earth & they get in a private jet and go party somewhere.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest issue, is the interest on the debt is now over $1T... Our debt itself is $36T... and our GDP is $27T...

Remember when Greenspan said this didn't matter because the United States can always just print it's way out of this? He said this back in 2011

"“The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default” said Greenspan on NBC’s Meet the Press"

Yeah... get ready to not be able to afford grocery...
