Always go into the bank; ATM will be limiting withdrawals in the near future to less than $100 per week. I am constantly making transfers out of my bank by check or online transfer. Keep your balance below the FDIC maximum ($250K). Move to gold/silver, platinum, etc; keep some cash for emergency (e.g. bank holidays to 30 days); stock food/water and other necessities. The FED will quietly bailout insolvent banks over the weekends (until it can't be hidden any longer). NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE CAUGHT WITH OUR HEADS STUCK IN THE SAND!

You're making a HUGE mistake if you're keeping anything more then you need to pay your stuff in any bank.

If you're counting on the FDIC you're going to be sorry.

Actually, I agree with you, but I run a NFP and need to keep some funds for monthly expenses. All my personal accounts are bare bones.

Agree. Haven’t used an ATM for a decade. Cash on hand plus metals of various types.

By forcing you to go in, they can control how much you take. Seen this before!

I drove to our local bank just to deposit a pension check yesterday and was told I had to deposit the

entire amount and could not withdraw any amount in cash from that same

check. It was a new regulation, according to the teller, put in place because of so many fake pension

checks that they needed another day in order to make sure they wouldn't bounce! My check

was a federal check!!! I suspect her reason was made up.

I vote who knows? It happens randomly as they run out of money or don’t work. If they could not withdraw cash from the bank then it’s something.

I'm an ATM technician. There is a plethora of reasons why ATMs are down. Usually because of jams. Rarely do they let machines run empty for more than a day. Banks do all they can to keep them up and running so they can make mad money on ATM fees.

I have a "cash for gold/pawn" business. The person I sell my gold to had 2 bank accounts closed because he was getting cash to pay businesses like me. He had plenty of money in the account but they refuse to give him cash. It is very difficult to get cash now.
