I like what Keith@Hedgeye says about the VIX: 9-17 is Captain Stockpicker's market, basically everyone's a genius in this VIX range. VIX 18-29 is the "choppy waters", traders rule the day here. Finally VIX 30 & above is the "Fuck Bucket", aka this VIX realm is for the pros who're comfortable w/extreme volatility.
