EVERYONE needs to have accounts in at least two different banks. Also, take the time to electronically link (and test) all your accounts so you can transfer your funds in short order. And NEVER have a credit card issued by your bank.
Think of your credit card in the same way you think of a Bank. The Credit Card company (for example, American Express, Visa, Master card) process the transactions, much like the Federal Reserve processes checks and other transactions from accounts in the various banks. For example, my VISA is issued by CITI, even though it is a COSTCO account. However, my "Checking" account is with TRUIST, where I also have a Mone Market account. Thus if TRUIST would close my account, I could still use my VISA. Also, I have a "checking" and money market account with a local credit union (it only does business in a few counties in NE Georgis). I also keep the majority of "cash" in on line banks since I get a higher (although still below the rate of inflation). I have established and tested online - interbank transfers between all of the institutions.
NEVER have a credit card from an institution where you have Demand Deposits (checking etc.) because those institution have a right of setoff in case of a dispute on your credit card.
For example, if I had a fraudulent charge on my VISA account, if push came to shove I could refuse to pay it. Yes, CITI COULD take me to court, but they would have the burden of proof to show that the charge was legitimate. On the other hand, if the VISA was issued by TRUIST, they could simply take the funds from my checking account, so in essence the "Credit Card" becomes a Debit Card. Of course, you should NEVER use or even have a DEBIT card for the same reason.
Way back "in the day" (I am old enough to remember the 73 "Yom Kippur War" oil embargo), the popular saying is "When your ship comes in, you better hope it is an oil tanker". Half a century later this still holds true.

Would love to hear your take, on what this author is talking about - he's saying everything is already in place for the 0.01% to sweep up all the collateral when the derivatives time bomb goes off but end on a hopeful message that the financial elite are getting desperate and making moves that reveal who they are and what their plans are - and the more successful they are in pulling it off, the more people they will awaken and the greater the resistance could be.
