If your currency is losing purchasing power and others are strong, bitcoin is then a better place for your money to be stored. Much better than suffering hyperinflation. The only people that didn't lose life savings during Venezuelas hyperinflation was gold/silver investors and bitcoin investors. Only a fraction of the world's population is exposed to bitcoin. As more people see bitcoins value it will become more stable and increase I value. In the meantime you can use the volatility to buy low and sell high. I often just skim my daily profits and buy stocks or pm. If no profits or we have a down period like we had, I just hold. Been working for me.

Datacenters have back up batteries and generators. Most likely your bitcoin will be fine when electricity comes back. Most stores, gas stations, etc., will not sell you a thing when power goes out to their pos systems. In that scenario you can't buy food with cash, credit and maybe gold/silver. Most people would assume it's counterfeit and not accept it in an emergency.

I think the rewards are worth the risk. I'm rolling with MY gut feeling and I'm not trying to convince anyone one way or another. I've been in and out of bitcoin per Greg since it was 15k. If I had been given advice like yours years ago and I listened, I'd be screwed out of thousands. Bitcoin is speculative yes, but it's a global currency with risk spread among buyer and sellers because they are using all major currencies to buy. Like a basket of currencies. If your currency is losing purchasing power and others are strong, bitcoin is then a better place for your money to be stored. Much better than suffering hyperinflation. The only people that didn't lose life savings during Venezuelas hyperinflation was gold/silver investors and bitcoin investors. Only a fraction of the world's population is exposed to bitcoin. As more people see bitcoins value it will become more stable and increase I value. In the meantime you can use the volatility to buy low and sell high. I often just skim my daily profits and buy stocks or pm. If no profits or we have a down period like we had, I just hold. Been working for me.

Maybe, but I think the reward outweighs the risk in this case. It should only be a part of your portfolio. If electricity goes down you have bigger problems than losing some bitcoin. Datacenters have back up batteries and generators. Most likely your bitcoin will be fine when electricity comes back. Most stores, gas stations, etc., will not sell you a thing when power goes out to their pos systems. In that scenario you can't buy food with cash, credit and maybe gold/silver. Most people would assume it's counterfeit and not accept it in an emergency.

Dan, all research I've done shows negative and positive opinions. Who to believe? For every article against bitcoin there is equally convincing people like M Saylor. I think the rewards are worth the risk. I'm rolling with MY gut feeling and I'm not trying to convince anyone one way or another. I really just wanted to present a counter position from yours so if anyone else is stuck on the fence, they could get a simple observation from someone whose had some success. Greg being so positive on btc also influenced me. I hope at one point I will just be playing with or mostly with house money like Greg has done many times with stocks and bitcoin. I also think everyone should have more in gold/silver than bitcoin.

CNN or CNBC ran an article this past week that COINBASE was severely hacked and last I heard they have to pay a "ransom" to get client $$/information returned. Interestingly, not the first time and interestingly, no more has been said about situation. I am glad I didn't go ahead with buying bitcoin through Coinbase last year. In fact, I know so money people that were wiped out with crypto that I decided, if not being greedy (I don't need to be), I am staying the heck away from it. I get the "Solari Report" quarterly from Catherine Austin Fitts, and she had included a special report on the specific dangers of the Ponzi scheme cryptos and it is excellent! When it fails, the Big Guys get their money and will leave everyone else with Zilch. Good luck, people.

c) I like Nvidia and the mining stocks. That is where I have that type of $s. Only have about $6K of Bitcoin as that is all care to lose if need be. Actually it is in the BITB fund which moves directly in line with Bitcoin movements(same %). AND... I don't have any of the related nightmares of owning that thing directly. A friend of mine cashed out some a few months ago of his actual Bitcoin and was surprised by the "exit" fees. I don't know anything about that other than his mention of it. Maybe he got snookered somehow. He kept 1/2 of his Bshitcoin though.
